AI in the drawing process: Vassena and Ailoys move from concept to operation

Artificial intelligence applied to wire and tube drawing
A few months after the partnership announcement, the collaboration between Vassena and Ailoys GmbH is no longer a project — it is an operational reality.
The artificial intelligence system developed by Ailoys is already installed and active at several wire and tube manufacturers, where — working in synergy with Vassena dies — it monitors the entire drawing process in real time and autonomously makes the necessary machine adjustments during operation. A concrete step forward toward adaptive and intelligent manufacturing.
From die grinding to in-line adaptive control
Not surprisingly, the first to invest in the solution was Vassena itself: today, AI is integrated into its latest-generation CNC machines dedicated to die grinding and finishing. Thanks to sensors installed on the machines, the system builds a digital twin of the machining process, monitoring critical processing parameters in real time and intervening during the cycle, without waiting for final inspection.
This means that every die produced by Vassena directly benefits from artificial intelligence already during the manufacturing phase, with an optimized process that results in greater precision, consistent quality, and superior performance for the end customer.
The result is a unique ecosystem: the die, already “intelligent” — optimized by AI during production — then communicates with the AI system installed at the drawing plant, creating a virtuous cycle of data and performance that no traditional solution can offer. Thanks to the shared cloud platform, the system can suggest the optimal die geometry for each individual drawing process, reducing scrap and maximizing efficiency.
