The voice of businessmen: Vassena
The voice of businessmen: Vassena.
wiredrawing.net interviews the protagonists of the field.
We officially open a new section of the site: a column devoted entirely to interviews with the businessmen, designed to give voice to those who every day live and work in the forefront. Our goal is to stimulate dialogue and debate. And to find out how each company is facing certain problems, certain risks, some opportunities.
We will start with the company Vassena Dies from Malgrate (LC, Italy), led by the family of Giuseppe Vassena. First we asked Vassena, leader in the market of wire drawing dies, to tell us how things are going at this time.
"Compared to 2009, it is going much better. We have gained new customers, some important ones, always relying on quality and technologically advanced products. We believe that this is our competitive advantage, the one that pays back and has paid back even in times of crisis. "
What role do foreign markets for you?
"A good part of our production is destined to foreign markets, and in this period especially to emerging countries.”
What strategies are you taking, in terms of production?
"We focus on delivering products that will impact positively in the company that adopt them, both on the speed of drawing and on tool life. Longer duration of the die means less downtime and of course lower production costs, because you don't have to stop the production cycle. We believe that you should value the cost of the product we offer, and of any product in general, inside the whole production cycle." Do you invest heavily in research?
"We never stopped. In recent years we have invested to expand our facilities and acquire new machinery, targeted investments aimed to please the customer in less time. We are also investing in research and development of new materials and devices, to make our tools more and more in step with the changing needs of drawing."
If you could make a public appeal, speaking as entrepreneurs, what would you say?
"Aside from the tax burden that weighs a lot on each company in Italy today, there is big a problem of bureaucracy, there are all the controls we need to do to be in order, which inevitably end up weighing on our final price. And the fact is that we compete with countries that do not have these rules.”
To promote your products, what methods do you use?
"We have a network of representatives, a bit all over the world. Usually we don't participate in trade fairs as exhibitors. We are very focused on the production, and we prefer to direct our investments elsewhere. In general, compared to the traditional fairs, we prefer other communication channels."
For example?
"A channel on which we rely a lot is wiredrawing.net. We are online exhibitors from the beginnings of the network, and it has always given us a good return."
