Alacero: Chinese exports to Latin America of manufactured steel products increased 11% during first semester of 2012
Alacero, the Latin American Steel Association, has published an update of the monthly statistics of Chinese export of steel products, articles of iron and steel and indirect trade, for the period January-June 2012.
In the first half of the year, 10% of the total Chinese exports of manufactured steel products have been directed towards Latin America – with 1.4 million tons, or, 2,147 million Dollars. This year the volume has been 11% higher than in the same period of 2011 when it reached 1.3 million tons.
Between January and June, the main importing countries of these products from China have been Brazil with 282,883 tons, followed by Chile and Venezuela with 217,890 tons and 194,423 tons. Comparing the first semester of 2012 to the same period of 2011, it can be observed that Brazil and Chile augmented their trade flow in 30% and 27% respectively, Venezuela being the country with the highest increase, of 60%.
