Choose the most appropriate copper alloy for your electrical and electronic applications

The European Copper Institute recently informed about the publication of a useful free-to-access copper conductivity materials database for electrical and electronic engineering to help specifiers and designers with material selection.

Copper, with its high conductivity, ductility, strength, good machinability, ease of jointing and good resistance to corrosion is always the first choice as a conductor for electrical applications. Futhermore it can easily form alloys with other elements creating a very wide range of materials. Operators are not always aware of these options and miss out on the benefits they offer. Now, an online resource is available to help designers in selecting the most appropriate material for a full range of electrical and electronic applications. The Copper Conductivity Materials Database provides information on specific alloys by required property combination or via a table of physical and mechanical properties, ordered by electrical conductivity. 37 copper-based materials are currently included.
