EU fines steel producers for cartel

EU Commission fines steel producers 518M euros. The European Commission on Wednesday imposed fines totalling 518 million euros ($636 million) to 17 steel producers it found guilty of striking tacit agreements to limit competition in Europe for steel rods used in construction. The agreement lasted 18 years and covered all European Union countries except three. The company that received the biggest fine was Arcelor Mittal.
