Expometals.net - Let's take stock of 2013

Despite the critical period in many European countries, 2013 has been a good year for Expometals.net. The whole staff worked hard to obtain a better platform and better contents, with great results in terms of international visibility and number of online exhibitors.   As usual, we worked on many fields: programming code, marketing, new business, strategy and synergies. Furthermore, the staff got increased by two units, passing from 8 to 10 coworkers. Two new professional figures, one major plus for Expometals: Mike and Stefano.   STRUCTURAL IMPROVEMENTS - Finally, the domain and brand change of the portal is over: After more than a year, we went from wiredrawing.net through expowire / expotube / expofastener / expocoils / expocable, and in the end we arrived to the actual Expometals.net; - The portal has been generally optimised (more compact, light and user-friendly layout, with a shorter homepage); - The “Advertise” page has been reorganised, with up-to-date info regarding the portal's diffusion; - We created a new “Contact” page, with all the contacts and the history of the portal so far; - Companies are now geolocated, and the featured companies are now given the possibility to add their own branch offices and foreign agents on the global map; - It is now easier to modify the online stands; - Each online stand has now its own embedded certified statistics (Google Analytics); - The indexing on the various search engines and social networks has been optimised; - In the “News” and “Products” page, users can filter their search by specific categories; - We activated a new Twitter and a new Google+ channel for Expometals; - A new version in Russian is in development; - Various functional modifications have been implemented; - Expometals.net counts now more than 60,000 pages.   MARKETING 2013 has been a year full of events, and we followed many of these: Fornitore Offresi in Erba, Fastener Fair in Stuttgart and Istanbul, Interwire in Atlanta, Wire & Tube in Moscow, Made in Steel in Milan, Tubexpo e Expolaser in Piacenza, and the CabWire conference in Milan. Plus, we appeared on websites and international branch magazines like Wire & Tube Technology.   USERS AND CONTENTS The companies' section now counts more than 4000 online exhibitors, of which 250 participating with a business account. All of these are high end companies working in the fields of wire drawing, rolling, fasteners, tubes and cables, flat and long products. Another considerably important update is the implementation of a new informative section, featuring technical lectures accessible by everybody for free – even to unregistered users.   SYNERGIES Since last year Expometals is the official web partner of ACIMAF, the Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association; in 2013 thanks to our “Let's Connect” project, IWMA (International Wire & Machinery Association), AWCMA (Austrian Wire and Cable Machines Association) and ANCCEM (Italian Spring Makers Association) began to cooperate with the portal, and to have a presence on Expometals.net.   What else? These are just a few improvements we brought to the portal, and only the more relevant ones. 2014 will be a very important year for us, because we will start working on a new section that will revolution the whole portal. We hope to update you soon about this.   A few words more from Davide Dell'Oro, founder of Expometals.net: “First of all, I'd like to thank all the companies that trusted us from the very beginning, believing in a project that ten years ago (and in this sector) could have almost been seen as foolish. I want to thank Pietro Carsana Foundation, for the support in scouting new coworkers; and the whole staff of Expometals for having put such an effort in reaching our goals, sometimes even spending their free time on this. I work, and will keep on working with them to make Expometals grow, but more importantly, to offer an always higher quality service. I'd like to ask the Italian politics and institutions to work more seriously, to make their processes more simple and to avoid “unconsistent” initiatives. Italy has still good ideas and great people, let them arise.”   Happy Holidays, and a good 2014 to you all.   Expometals.net's staff: Davide, Daniela, Fausto, Mariella, Mike, Stefano, Laura, Daniel, Mauro & Gianpietro
