Flat products, prices continue rising in the EU. Wire rod, the market is stationary

According to MEPS, the prices of flat steel products in the European Union continue rising in October, following September's upward momentum, and further increases can be forecast.
The independent steel industry analysts inform in a recent note that overall consumption is relatively stable in the region but supply is limited due to a lack of imported material from third countries, resulting from a series of trade defence measures on both hot and cold rolled coils, together with higher prices demanded by many overseas suppliers.
The upward price pressure could be increased by the announcement of EU antidumping measures against Chinese hot rolled coil and plate.

Regarding wire rod, the purchasing activity in this period is slower than expected, but sellers are confident that demand will pick up in the near future. Producers from southern Europe have become more active. Prices could slide further but no dramatic fall is expected.

Demand for structural sections is quite weak at the time. Scrap costs are low. Beam and rebar prices continue to fall.
