NMDC has reportedly, proposed setting up a 10mn ton integrated steel plant in Karnataka if the state government provides it adequate iron ore deposits and infrastructure support. The initial capacity of which would be 2mn ton and it can be later augmented to 10mn tons.
According to reports, the Navratna PSU has requisitioned 4,000 acres for its proposed steel mill and has sought approval for water supply and mineral linkages. Investment planned in the project have not yet been worked out as the optimum capacity has been proposed in over a few years span, NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Rana Som reortedly said.
