Italy shuts down non-essential businesses. Companies working from home
There had already been some talk about it, but now it's real: starting from March 23, 2020, Italian companies are shutting down production until April 3. On the other hand, essential businesses and companies able to work remotely from home will remain operational. This, in short, the content of the latest governmental decree signed by Prime Minister Conte on March 22.
This is a drastic but necessary measure, as stated by government officials and the delegation of Chinese doctors, who recently arrived in Italy to help us cope with the epidemic. We must contain the virus spread by any means necessary, and the most effective way to do this is to keep people at home.
This strong decision is expected to be supported politically and economically also by Europe which will most likely have to face the same situation soon.
Some of the businesses that are considered essential include grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores, as well as companies in the food, pharmaceutical, medical, and oil&gas industries.
