Brescia (Italy), March 16, 2023 - The online ticket office is now open for Made in Steel, the international Conference & Exhibition dedicated to the steel supply chain to be held at fieramilano Rho (Milan) from May 9 to 11, 2023, organized by siderweb - The Italian Steel Community.

More than 280 exhibitors from 20 countries, representing the steel supply chain, will attend the event. The exhibition space was already sold out in December, and meanwhile another 50 requests for participation have been filed. More than 50 international buyers will meet qualified operators from the supply chain thanks to the partnership between Made in Steel and ICE - The Italian trade agency for the promotion and internationalisation of Italian companies.

The title of this tenth edition is “GENERATIONS, re-imagining our world”. The changes that the world steel industry is undergoing will be debated in the conferences in the siderweb Conference Room, the content hub of the three-day steel event, with more than 25 Italian and European speakers, analysts and decision makers of the supply chain who will focus on new markets and value chains, new generations, the role of women, and the global challenges that the steel industry is facing, from production to utilization.
On Wednesday May 10, the siderweb Conference Room will host the annual general meeting of Federacciai.

"Made in Steel has become a fundamental event for the world of steel, an event that siderweb has focused on since its inception on its dual soul: Conference on the one hand, with quality content and in-depth analysis of market trends; Exhibition on the other, therefore a moment of relationship and business for all players in the supply chain," says Paolo Morandi, CEO of siderweb and Made in Steel.

"GENERATIONS, re-imagining our world will be the title of the tenth edition of Made in Steel. A title that encompasses many souls and themes: from internationalization to new generations; from diversity to innovation; from sustainability to a new narrative that concerns us all. As many souls as there are challenges and opportunities that the supply chain will face in the coming years. We will have with us speakers who will help us tackle the different souls of doing business. With them, we will explore, study, and look to the future. We are putting all the passion that distinguishes us into building the world to come,” adds Francesca Morandi, content manager of siderweb.

STEEL OUTLOOK - Steel will slow down in Italy and the EU but will remain positive in 2023. According to the latest forecasts, the national and European steel industry is expected to see a decline in the first half of the year. The second half, however, will be positive again.
Overall, the activity of steel users is expected to rise by 1% in 2023. Machinery and mechanical appliances (-0.4% in Italy) and metal products (-0.2%) are expected to contract slightly, while construction will rise by 2.5%.

As for steel production, 145.3 million tonnes were produced worldwide in January, down 3.3% year-on-year (source: World Steel Association). The EU produced 10.3 million tonnes (-15.2%) and Italy, according to Federacciai, 1.6 million (-14.7%).

Finally, steel prices show an upward trend, after the general slowdown in the second half of 2022, due to a long destocking phase that followed the “panic buying” triggered by the outbreak of war in Ukraine over fears of material shortages.
In February, the Italian market steel price indices published by siderweb Research Department rose a few points compared to January. The Carbon Steel Index (which measures the average price per ton of carbon steel products in Italy) recorded the highest increase (+3 points) at 147.72. The Scrap Index rose from 122.20 points in December to 124.71 in February. The Stainless Steel Index (which measures the average price per ton of stainless steel products in Italy) rose by +0.3 points.
