Romania’s steel output grew by 50% in the first 11 months of 2010. Steel output in Romania grew by 50% in the first 11 months of 2010, compared to the same period of 2009, because of the investment policy of great steel groups present in Romania – Arcelormittal, TMK and Tenaris, according to data supplied by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business. “I appreciate the positive economic results of companies, the quality improvement of output, but I consider additional efforts are needed to obtain full viability to allow these companies to cope with any future market uncertainties. I consider that complex development programs, technological and environment investments will ensue superior, quality steel products, job consolidation, ecological industrial areas according to European standards in the field”, Ion Ariton the minister of economy declared in Brussels. The Brussels event market the completion of the monitoring process in the steel sector in Romania in September 2010. “For Romania, the conclusion of the restructuring process in the steel industry in good conditions, as mentioned in the Commission Report presented on 16 September 2010, is an important element in the process of continuing European integration from the political and economic points of view”, Ariton pointed out.
