Steel output in Japan climbs 11.7% in September

Steel output in Japan climbs 11.7% in September on demand, Federation says. Steel production in Japan, the world’s second-biggest maker, rose 11.7 percent in September from a year earlier on demand recovery. Crude steel output rose to 9.23 million metric tons, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation said on its website. The level is 3.8 percent higher than the previous month, the statement said. Production at blast furnaces gained 11.3 percent from a year earlier to 7.17 million tons, while output from electric- arc furnaces increased 12.8 percent to 2.06 million tons, according to the statement.
