The 5th Tube, Pipe and Fittings Fair in Istanbul is over

BORU 2009 - FINAL REPORT by Ihlas Fair Organization The 5th Tube, Pipe and Fittings Fair that held at the Istanbul Expo Center opened its doors to visitors on Thursday 5 March 2009. Inauguration ceremony of the fair was realized by İhlas Holding Deputy Executive Chairman Yavuz Özgün, ÇEBİD (Steel Pipe Manufacturer Association) Executive Board Chairman Bülent Demircioğlu, ITA (International Tube Association) Secretary General Phillip G. Knight, İSKİ General Manager Mevlüt Vural and T.R. Industry and Trade Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Associated Prof. Dr. Yavuz Cabbar at 12.00 a.m. Following inauguration, the foremost tube and pipe brands of Turkey and the world exhibited their products. While total 181 exhibitors being 59 of them from abroad participated in the 5th International Pipe, Tube and Fittings Fair, 19.829 visitors toured the fair. In its 5th edition, the fair has achieved to increase its visitor number and reach by the true visitor mass, despite having experienced of the global economic crisis. As in the last year, this year also due to not enough space at the fair area, foyer area was completely sold. ABSTRACT ABOUT SECTOR In today’s business world where globalization and competition increases, Turkey is in an effort to take its place among the developed countries via raising its vision continuously. Of our country, no doubt, construction sector comes first with the effort being able to cope with its developed and exporting rivals in the international area. The developments that are enjoyed in the sector also affect the pipe sector as well as in the all sectors. Turkish Pipe sector is known the most ready sector to the European Union and flaunts its success with its product quality and service understanding. The tube, pipe sector is a sector operates in a wide spectrum ranging from steel to plastic, copper to aluminum, concrete to stainless steel, cast iron to CTP. Paralleling production increases, expanding its exports in the passed years continuing its way as the biggest product group of the sector composed of steel made pipes some 3.4 million tons production and with 90 percent exports share. New energy investments, the increase of provinces’ number accessing to natural gas, local governances’ importance to the infrastructure works make the sector get activity. In this concept, the 5th International Tube, Pipe, Fittings Fair has been a venue where giants of the sector meet, having enjoyed show of strength, the latest innovations/products exhibited. Having held in 2 halls, the fair has won the admiration of the sector with the participants in both from the homeland and abroad and visitors profile from different countries of the world. The companies that act in the sector have expanded their target, turn their direction to the outstanding successes not only in Turkey, but also abroad. Having a wide range with its product diversity and applications, the pipe sector tries to raise its product consumption figures and in this meaning has a great potential. In spite of the global economic crisis which is being experienced, the sector struggle to manage its activities with a great success.
