Turkey tops 15 world steel producers in regard to rise in production. Turkey topped 15 world steel producers in regard to rise in production, a sectoral association said on Thursday. Turkish Iran-Steel Producers Association said Turkey's steel production was up 34.4 percent in the first two months of 2011 and with this rise, Turkey topped 15 steel producers in the world. Turkey produced 5.2 million tons of raw steel in the mentioned period. The raw steel production in the world was up 10.8 percent to 243.6 million tons from 219.8 million tons in January-February 2011. China raised its steel production by 11.9 percent to 114 million tons in the first two months of 2001, preserving its title as "the biggest steel producer in the world." Turkey's raw steel production is expected to reach 34 million tons by the end of 2011.
