US. Steel Dynamics seeks to expand
USA. Steel Dynamics gets tax abatement. Jeffersonville manufacturer plans to grow. The Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission approved $3 million in real property tax abatements and $500,000 in personal property tax abatements to Steel Dynamics during its Wednesday night meeting, board member Ed Zastawny said. The company, at 5134 Loop Road, is planning for future growth at its Jeffersonville flat roll division’s finishing operation, which employs 90 people with an annual payroll of about $6.6 million, according to a press release from economic development agency One Southern Indiana. Zastawny said the company plans to add up to five jobs, with salaries of more than $60,000 per year. The abatements allows the company to phase-in its property taxes while simultaneously increasing the local tax base. Steel Dynamics is one of the largest steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States. Its finishing plant in Jeffersonville produces pickled, cold-rolled, galvanized and painted flat-roll steel.
