USA. Trade case over imported steel wire moves forward. The U.S. Department of Commerce is continuing to investigate possible countervailing and anti-dumping duties against certain steel wire products from China and Mexico after all six United States International Trade Commissioners determined that there is reasonable indication that domestic producers are being hurt by these imports. In April, five American producers of galvanized steel wire, filed a trade case before the ITC contending that companies from China and Mexico undercut prices or provided illegal subsidies from 2008 to 2010. The preliminary determination on countervailing duties is expected around June 24, and the preliminary antidumping duty determination is expected around September 7.
