Wiring the Indian future, challenges and opportunities on showcase in New Delhi
The first day of the 3rd edition of Cable & Wire Fair 2019, the leading wire and cable trade show in India, began with a keynote address by the major players in the field. The icing on the cake was the presence of Shri Suresh Prabhu, India's Sherpa to the G 7 and G 20, who gave the inaugural speech at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, on November 6, 2019. Shri Suresh Prabhu has held many governmental positions, including jobs for the Railways, Aviation, Power, and Commerce & Industry Ministers, which are closely intertwined with the wire and cable industry.
In his speech, Shri Suresh Prabhu praised the event and shared his thoughts regarding the growth of the wire and cable sector in India in times to come. He emphasized that it is not currently possible to imagine life and work in any area without wires or cables.
Highlighting the fact that these products will remain fundamental in the future, Shri Suresh Prabhu said that, apart from domestic requirements, cables and wires play a crucial role in the power, telecom, infrastructure, IT, and heavy industries and that the demand is expected to rise even more. He also said that R&D and innovation are the driving forces of the whole sector. Shri Suresh Prabhu also urged the wire and cable industry to make safety paramount, claiming that this field needs to manufacture safe and reliable products.
Mr. Vijay P. Karia, Ravin Group of Companies Chairman & Managing Director, focused on the purpose of the conference and the growth opportunities offered by the Indian wire and cable market. In his address, Mr. Andrew Shaw, Ducab Managing Director, gave an overview of the GCC cable market and spoke about how GCC and India can learn from each other to sustain the growth of the industry. Mr. Shaw also focused on the potential of the huge and fast-growing wire and cable market in India. The views expressed by Mr. Dilip Dev, HD Wires Private Limited GMD and Chairman of Steel Wire Manufacturers Association of India, regarding the steel wire sector, were positive and encouraging.
Mr. Priyank Jain, Tulip 3P Media Private Limited CEO, organizer of Cable & Wire Fair and publishers of Wire & Cable India magazine, gave a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the industry supporters at the fair.
Cable & Wire Fair 2019 provided many players from the wire and cable industry with a good opportunity to come together and showcase the latest gear for the wire and cable industry. Some 200 exhibitors from more than 20 countries exhibited at the trade show. The conference saw high-voltage discussions at the cable technical sessions, wherein a myriad of issues about the wire and cable industry were considered. Besides, the event included an Innovation Hall where premier companies including Polycab, KEI, RR Kabel, LS Cable, Ravin, Apar, Paramount Wires & Cables, CMI Group, Svarn Wires & Cables, etc. showcased their latest and upcoming products.
The next event will be held from 26th to 28th October 2021 at the new halls of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
