Tension leveling lines

SALICO tension leveling lines are engineered to deliver perfectly flat strip across a wide range of materials and thicknesses—from 0.08 mm soft aluminum to 6.5 mm in non-ferrous alloys, and from 0.3 mm to 5 mm in carbon steel. Designed for service centers, mills, and industrial users requiring high flatness standards, these lines correct shape defects such as coil set, buckles, and edge waves through controlled elongation.
How it works: elongation for true flatness
Tension leveling works by bending the strip around a set of small-diameter rolls while applying tension. This process elongates shorter strip fibers, aligning them with longer ones and eliminating internal stresses. The result is a "memory-free" flat strip ready for downstream forming or cutting operations.
SALICO tension levelers feature modular cassette-based roll assemblies for fast changeover and easy maintenance. In double elongation configurations, two cassettes operate while others remain offline for cleaning, ensuring maximum line uptime.
Tension bridles and smart cleaning systems
Cleanliness is essential in tension leveling, especially for 5xxx aluminum alloys or cast feedstock. SALICO integrates mechanical and spray cleaning systems for both bridle and leveler rolls, ensuring reliable performance and high-quality output.
Advanced automation and elongation control
To ensure exact elongation, SALICO employs non-contact control systems using lasers and encoders, eliminating slip errors. Proprietary algorithms regulate the elongation cycle, providing consistent and repeatable flatness without operator input.
These lines can be integrated with other processes such as cleaning, degreasing, or inspection, and are compatible with Industry 4.0 architecture for data acquisition, remote diagnostics, and full integration with plant-level systems.
