Quenching

GF-ELTI designs and manufactures tanks for quenching operations by total or partial immersion in an extinction liquid (water or polymer solution).

The tanks can be made of a self-bearing or reinforced metal structure, or of waterproof reinforced concrete according to the type of extinction liquid. Each tank is equipped with an Extinction Fluid Agitation System consisting of pressure nozzles or mechanical mixers.

Immersion in the tank can occur in three ways:
- through an independent handling device (e.g. bridge crane, manipulator, etc.);
- through a metal platform, after depositing the products through an external handling device (e.g. bridge crane, manipulator, etc.);
- by direct immersion, in case of a platform integrated in the base of the furnace.

The third type of GF-ELTI tanks is dedicated to differential quenching of axial-symmetric products, such as railway wheels. It is possible to locally quench the rolling surface, improving hardness and resistance to wear and fatigue.
