Welded stainless steel tubes for heating elements

Welded stainless steel tubes for heating elements

CSM TUBE is a trusted partner for manufacturers of sheathed electric heating elements for domestic and industrial applications. The company supplies stainless steel tubes featuring tight dimensional tolerances and consistent chemical and mechanical properties. Maintaining these tight tolerances is essential for subsequent filling with ceramic insulating materials and for the rolling process of the heating element carried out by customers.

Technical specifications for heating elements

  • Diameters: from 5.00 mm to 24.40 mm
  • Wall thicknesses: from 0.30 mm to 1.25 mm
  • Formats: straight lengths (up to 12 m)

Applications, dimensions, and formats

Tubes for heating elements are widely used in small household appliances, commercial catering equipment, large-scale water heating systems, and industrial boilers, as well as in a wide range of industrial applications. The company offers several formats to adapt to any production line.

  • Household appliances: small-diameter tubes for coffee machines, washing machines, and ovens.
  • Commercial catering: tubes for heating elements used in dishwashers and ovens for hotels, canteens and catering facilities.
  • Industrial boilers: solutions for heat exchangers and high-power systems.
  • Industrial applications: solutions for localized or distributed heating where process consistency is critical (e.g. injection molding machines, annealing furnaces, and similar).
  • Advanced materials for corrosive environments: austenitic stainless steels, optionally titanium-stabilized, and nickel alloys for high-temperature corrosion resistance.

As a standard, tubes for sheathed heating elements are supplied in the as-welded condition (W0). However, tubes can also be supplied with in-line bright annealing (W2R) to reduce the need for off-line annealing at customer facilities, particularly for applications involving large bending radii and low specific power load.

Quality standards and testing

Compliance with international standards is ensured through continuous monitoring across three shifts. Each batch of tubes for the heating element sector undergoes non-destructive testing (eddy current) and rigorous dimensional inspections in accordance with applicable standards such as EN 10217-7. Weld quality is verified through destructive tests, including drift expanding, flattening, and tensile tests, to ensure that the tube maintains its integrity during downstream processing at the customer’s facilities, particularly during rolling for magnesium oxide compaction and bending.
