Extrusion lines for LAN and telephone cables

Elav designs high-performance extrusion lines for the production of LAN cables (up to Cat. 7) and telephone cables. These solutions are suitable for processing copper conductors insulated with high-performance thermoplastic materials such as solid PE, physically or chemically foamed PE, FEP, and PVC.

The lines ensure continuous process stability, controlled expansion levels, and high finished cable quality. In tandem configuration with a wire drawing machine, a complete and efficient process can be achieved for telecommunications and data transmission cable applications.

Line configuration

• Pay-offs: cantilever type (SCT800 / SCT1000) or flyers combined with a tandem rod breakdown machine
• Pre-heater: optional, to optimize insulation material expansion
• Volumetric dosing system: optional
• Extrusion head: Coex 3 or Coex 4 configuration for insulation, skin, and striping (optional)
• Cooling troughs: with telescopic hot sections, straight cold sections, or multi-pass cold modules, also available with integrated motorized capstan
• Take-ups: double automatic ADA series, ensuring continuous operation

Configuration types and technical specifications

Elav lines can be adapted for different production solutions: solid or foamed PE insulation (expansion up to 70%), tandem lines with wire drawing machine, and processing of solid or foamed FEP combined with PE for high-performance cables.

The production range includes copper conductors with diameters from 0.32 mm to 0.90 mm, and a maximum insulated cable diameter of 3.0 mm. Processable materials include PE, FEP, PVC, in both solid and foamed forms, depending on project needs.

The tandem configuration with the wire drawing machine enables line speeds up to 2,500 m/min, while maintaining dimensional stability and precise process control. These solutions cover the production of Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 7 LAN cables, and standard telephone cables, with high precision and reliability.
