Fastener Fair Italy: a quick guide to get you started

Fastener Fair Italy is finally back! On November 30 and December 1, the fastener and fixing industry will reunite under the roof of the Fiera Milano City Exhibition Center for the long-awaited 3rd edition of the event. The trade show will provide a unique showcase and a business forum for all fasteners and fixing technologies, from the standard screws, bolts, and nuts, to the raw materials and forging processes, as well as surface treatments, custom designs, and more.

A look at the previous edition
While being a relatively small event, the 2nd edition of the Fastener Fair Italy back in 2018 managed to score an excellent attendance. The previous show counted 210 suppliers of fastener and fixing technologies, 22% of which were exhibitors from 13 abroad countries. The mix of visitors reflected the diversity of the market the fastener industry is targeting. The majority of visitors were either wholesalers (24%) or distributors (42%); 20% were end-users themselves, while manufacturers accounted for 34% of the attendance.

The outlook
The expectations for the 3rd edition are positive. Industry professionals are looking forward to the networking opportunity provided by the show, despite the ongoing world developments. 2021 was a very good year for the fasteners industry, although signs of fatigue were to be reported in some key markets (e.g., automotive), even before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. These major upheavals, coupled with surging increases in energy costs, have had a profound impact on the fasteners market; to date, everybody is concerned about the rising inflation that we are all experiencing to some extent.

Italy has proved itself to be more resilient than expected: we heard this at a recent conference organized by FT Mercati from the words of Valeria Negri, Director of the Center for Studies of Assolombarda, a relevant industry association based in Milan. Covid has eroded 18% of Italy's production capacity, with deep wounds, also within the social fabric. However, this resulted in a manufacturing system that is now stronger and more competitive than before, able to sneak into new market niches, now that many buyers are revising and shortening their supply chains. The situation is still murky, yet the new challenges also provide many opportunities for those who have the flexibility and ability to seize them.

Following our overview, we provide here some useful links for all prospecting attendees to Fastener Fair Italy.
