The CRU Wire & Cable Connections Summit, also known as CRU Wire & Cable Conference, is an international conference focused on the evolving role of the wire and cable industry within Europe’s energy transition and digital infrastructure development. This annual event gathers over 200 senior executives from more than 30 countries, representing the global wire and cable industry across the full value chain. Participants include cable manufacturers, raw material suppliers, utilities, EPCs and infrastructure stakeholders involved in copper, aluminium, polymers and optical fibre applications.
The 2026 edition will take place from June 23 to 25 in Hanover, Germany, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hannover Schweizerhof, positioning the event at the heart of the European industrial and energy ecosystem.
A data-driven outlook on wire and cable markets and grid infrastructure
The 2026 conference will open with an in-depth wire and cable market outlook, analysing European grid infrastructure, electricity systems and manufacturing capacity. Sessions will examine the impact of electrification, digitalisation and data processing on power transmission, offering forward-looking insights into demand evolution across key end-use sectors.
Raw materials, power generation and grid expansion
A central part of the agenda focuses on raw materials market dynamics, addressing supply security, copper and aluminium demand, metal substitution trends and the role of polymers in advanced cable solutions. Dedicated sessions will explore power generation and grid expansion, including EU sustainability policy, renewable integration, energy storage evolution and the development of submarine cables, DC grids and superconductors to support long-term infrastructure needs.
Financing, demand drivers and sustainable manufacturing
The Summit will also analyse grid infrastructure finance and execution, covering contract models, bankability, geopolitical risks, tariffs and procurement strategies. Further sessions will examine wire and cable demand linked to EV infrastructure, hyperscale data centres and the emerging European hydrogen market. Sustainability remains a core theme, with discussions on recycling, scrap quality, low-carbon materials, LCA, EPD and ESG product disclosure, alongside digitalisation, AI adoption and workforce challenges in increasingly sophisticated cable manufacturing.
A rotating European event with a strong legacy
Over the years, the CRU Wire & Cable Connections Summit has established itself as a reference event for the global wire and cable industry. Each edition is hosted in a different European location, reflecting CRU’s commitment to capturing regional market dynamics and bringing the discussion closer to key industrial and infrastructure hubs. Previous editions have attracted senior decision-makers from across the value chain, fostering continuity, long-term industry dialogue and a consistently high level of technical and strategic debate.
