About the International Cablemakers Federation (ICF)
The International Cablemakers Federation (ICF) serves as the premier CEO Networking Forum for the global wire and cable industry. Established in Vienna in 1990, ICF is a non-profit association operating under Austrian law, dedicated to uniting the world's leading cable producers. Its fundamental mission revolves around empowering the digitalization and electrification of societies worldwide, recognizing cable technology as the core backbone of future energy and telecommunication infrastructures. Currently, ICF comprises 47 members spanning 25 countries across various global regions, fostering a truly international perspective.
Objectives and Activities
ICF's core activities are centered on advancing the wire and cable sector through collaboration and innovation. A significant annual event is the ICF Congress, which gathers CEOs of member companies for unique networking opportunities and insights from distinguished speakers on industry trends. Beyond this, ICF is committed to several key objectives, including sponsoring and financing this annual congress, encouraging research and development programs for improved utilization and recovery of cable materials with an emphasis on ecological aspects, and actively promoting advancements in health and safety practices within cable manufacturing and installation. The Federation also works to establish international programs that enhance cable usage, security, and energy efficiency, alongside analyzing and collating statistical data for its members.
Membership and Governance
Membership in the ICF is primarily open to leading manufacturers of insulated electric wires and cables, optical fibre cables, and enameled wires. Additionally, supporting membership is available for associations, institutions, or similar bodies that can contribute to ICF's objectives. The Federation's annual membership fee is structured to reflect the size of member companies. ICF operates under the guidance of its General Assembly, which approves policies determined by the ICF Council, whose members are elected by the General Assembly. Day-to-day administration is delegated to a Secretary, with all economic activities managed by ICF – Cablemakers Federation GmbH, registered with the Vienna Commercial Court. The organization strictly adheres to anti-trust guidelines, ensuring fair and ethical collaboration among its global members.
