About the European Fastener Distributor Association (EFDA)
The European Fastener Distributor Association (EFDA) serves as a pivotal organization representing the interests of fastener distributors across Europe and on a global scale. It unites established national associations and a growing network of independent distributors from various European countries, primarily through its 'More EFDA' (MEFDA) initiative, established in 2014 for regions without active national associations. This collective strength encompasses approximately 170 innovative and high-performing associates, boasting a substantial combined inventory of fasteners and other C-Parts. Their collective sales exceed 4 billion Euros, supported by affiliates and trading partners worldwide.
Mission and Membership
EFDA's core mission revolves around several key objectives: fostering cohesion within the European fastener distribution sector, maintaining a robust global network with international partner organizations, and advocating for the crucial role of fastener distributors as integrated logistics partners for European industries. The association also actively promotes free and fair trade within an open marketplace. Membership is accessible either through national fastener distributor associations in countries like Britain and Ireland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, or directly via MEFDA for companies in other European nations.
Industry Advocacy and Insights
EFDA plays a significant role in elevating the understanding and recognition of the fastener distribution industry. Through publications such as 'Securing the Future,' EFDA provides comprehensive insights into the complexities of the modern fastener supply chain, particularly for European policymakers. This document highlights that the sector comprises over 2,500 major distribution companies, employs more than 44,000 skilled personnel, manages an inventory exceeding 2 billion Euros, and annually supplies over 130,000 different components valued at more than 10 billion Euros. EFDA emphasizes that modern fastener distributors are strategic contributors, investing in equipment, connectivity, and human capital to manage intricate global supply chains, rather than merely being 'box-shifters.' The association actively participates in major industry events like the Fastener Fair Global, facilitating networking and knowledge exchange among its members and international partners.
