Who we are
Founded in January 1946, the Italian Association of Metallurgy (AIM) is the cultural and technical-scientific reference point for the world of metallic materials in Italy. As a non-profit organization, AIM has a clear objective: to act as a bridge between scientific knowledge and industry, supporting research dedicated to metallic materials and other raw materials for engineering, with the aim of increasing innovation and the competitive growth of the sector.
In an industrial context that is constantly evolving, where traditional materials are transforming and advanced materials are opening up new application perspectives, continuous updating is essential. AIM supports professionals, researchers, and companies along this path by offering high-quality content, opportunities for discussion, and a strong network of expertise.

Our mission
AIM promotes the exchange of ideas, experiences, and know-how among producers, users, and researchers, creating a concrete and ongoing dialogue between academia and industry. The Association thus contributes to the development of knowledge and technologies in the field of metallic materials, responding precisely to the needs of industry.

Activities and initiatives
The dissemination of metallurgical science and technology is primarily aimed at members, but AIM’s commitment extends to the entire community of Italian metallurgists. Alongside major events such as national and international conferences and an intensive publishing activity – including the historic journal La Metallurgia Italiana, founded in 1909 – AIM organizes: thematic study days, specialized technical seminars, training courses, and technical visits to laboratories and companies.
The initiatives are developed by the 19 AIM Study Centers, which define content, speakers, and formats to ensure an offering that is always up to date, qualified, and aligned with the real needs of the industrial sector.

Why AIM
AIM is a community of expertise, a place for exchange, and a driver of innovation for those who work, study, and invest in the future of metallic materials.
