Wire associations
Founded in 1988, the association brings together 52 member companies and promotes the common interests of German manufacturers, suppliers, and customers in the sector. VDKM provides its members with advice, support, and representation in professional, technical, economic, and organizational matters, acting as a collective voice in dealings with authorities, public bodies, associations, committees, and trade fair organizers.
A key focus of VDKM’s work is the coordination, preparation, and implementation of exhibitions, symposia, and trade fairs, both in Germany and internationally. The association supports companies in all matters related to the participation in major industry events, including the representation of shared interests toward exhibition organizers. VDKM is also part of the International Wire and Cable Machine Exhibitors Association (IWCEA), the umbrella organization that brings together the German, Austrian, and French national associations for wire and cable machine manufacturers.
Through regular meetings, events, seminars, lectures, open-house initiatives, training programs, and joint development and research projects, VDKM fosters networking, knowledge exchange, and cooperation across the wire processing industry. Its activities enhance visibility, competitiveness and international connections of Germany’s wire and cable machinery sector. The association is led by President Dr.-Ing. Uwe-Peter Weigmann and Vice President Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Kappertz.
