Company Overview and History
Eltex of Sweden AB, founded in Älmhult, Sweden in 1964, has over 60 years of experience as a prominent manufacturer in the textile machinery sector. The company's journey began with the successful introduction of its Electronic Weft-Stop-Motion at ITMA 1963. Over the decades, Eltex expanded its global footprint, establishing Eltex U.S., Inc. in 1974 and a primary production facility, Eltex Manufacturing Ltd., in Ireland in 1977. Today, Eltex of Sweden AB serves as the group's Research & Development, Administration, and Global Sales hub in Osby, Sweden, while Eltex Manufacturing handles production and Eltex U.S., Inc. manages sales and service in North America. The company is a member of the Textile Machinery Association of Sweden (TMAS) and holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for its management system, with its calibration laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
Products and Services
Eltex specializes in electronic yarn sensor systems and tension control devices for various textile applications. Key offerings include yarn break sensors such as the EYE, EYE Compact, EYE Compact II, UPG-Stitch, and G3s, which utilize piezoelectric or optical principles to detect yarn movement or absence. These robust, dust-insensitive sensors are suitable for carpet tufting (down to 1/10 inch gauges), artificial grass tufting, sewing, warping, winding, weaving (including weft break sensors like G3w and optical types), and multi-axial warp knitting machines. The EYE Compact II, for instance, is a miniaturized version of its predecessor, designed for modern machines with limited space.
The company also provides advanced yarn tension monitors and control systems. The Eltex Tension Monitor (ETM), ETM Solo, ETM RS422, and ETM-Q are on-line devices that continuously monitor thread tension, often doubling as thread break detectors for quilting, sewing, and other textile machines. For active tension control, the ACT-G and ACT-R units ensure constant yarn tension throughout winding, warping, and weaving processes. The ACT-R, specifically for Rapier weaving machines, regulates weft yarn tension to a constant value, improving fabric quality and enabling the use of challenging recycled yarns. Complementing its hardware, the EYE Analyzer is PC software for data collection, statistics, and diagnostics, aiding in process optimization. Eltex also offers custom-designed OEM sensors and original spare parts.
