What is IATF 16949 certification and why it matters
IATF 16949 is the international standard for quality management systems in the automotive supply chain, developed by the International Automotive Task Force to define the requirements that suppliers must meet in terms of component compliance, reliability, and traceability. Maintaining and periodically renewing the certification demonstrates an ongoing commitment to process improvement and provides customers with the assurance of working with a documented, controlled supply chain.
a systemic approach to quality
ISB's quality policy is built on a systemic approach that integrates three certification frameworks: IATF 16949:2016 for the automotive sector, UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for quality management systems, and UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management.
These are complemented by specialized technical tools — PFMEA, APQP, MSA, SPC, PPAP — which enable overseeing the entire process from the feasibility stage through to the entire production process and into after-sales support. The systematic adoption of FIFO logic, complete traceability, and KPI monitoring are all integral parts of the company's operational culture.
The Quality Assurance function handles the implementation and maintenance of management systems, new product qualification, and claims management. Quality Control, in turn, monitors every phase of manufacturing, from first approval through to final pre-shipment sign-off.
On the technological side, ISB is equipped with fatigue testing machines with adjustable frequency above 10 Hz, enabling accelerated cyclic testing up to 10⁶ cycles in under 24 hours, 100% sorting systems based on load cells and cameras, and fracture analysis capabilities using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with an EDS probe — tools that ensure rigorous control at both the design and product qualification stages.
