Traverse winding lines for quick and efficient strip winding

b+s traverse winding lines are designed for the accurate and uniform winding of narrow metal strips across the full width of a spool or directly onto a mandrel arbor. Several traverse winders can be integrated into the same line to support high production volumes.
In stand-alone configurations, individual coils are unwound and butt-welded before being processed by oscillating winders to produce tightly wound spools. Depending on the application, the strip can be wound directly onto the mandrel arbor, onto fabric or metal cores, or into dedicated spools.
The lines can be customized with additional equipment, including thickness measurement systems, precision straighteners, and oiling devices.
Line specification
-
Spool weight: over 5,000 kg / 11,025 lbs
-
Entry coil width: over 1,500 mm / 60 in, in combination with a slitting line
-
Material thickness: from 0.03 to 4.0 mm / 0.0012 to 0.16 in
-
Line speed: over 800 m/min / 2,625 fpm
-
Strip width: up to 60 mm / 2.4 in
The system also reduces setup times through automated functions and high operating speeds. Clearance-free slitter shaft bearings and limited cutter-shaft deflection help maintain cutting accuracy and minimize burr height, even when processing a high number of strips.
b+s also has experience in processing ultra-high-strength materials with tensile strength above 1,500 N/mm² and yield strength above 1,100 N/mm².
