Kaptan Demir Çelik, established in 1964, is a prominent Turkish steel manufacturing company that has grown into a significant player in the global steel industry. The company began its journey with its first rolling mill in Karabük and has since expanded its operations across multiple facilities in the Trakya region.
The company operates a state-of-the-art steel mill in Marmara Ereğlisi, established in 2002, with an impressive annual billet production capacity of 1.4 million tons. This facility, strategically located just 7km from Martaş port facilities and 5km from the main road, serves as the region's only steel mill.
The company's manufacturing capabilities are distributed across three rolling mills:
- Marmara Ereğlisi plant (established 2006): Features full automation and produces 900,000 tons annually, manufacturing flat and ribbed rebar as well as round bars for the machine-building industry.
- Karabük facility (established 1964): The original production facility operates with a 100,000 tons/year capacity, producing ribbed and round rebar, wiping, llama, square, and angle iron.
- Çorlu plant (established 1987, renovated 2015): Boasts a 500,000-ton capacity and features Turkey's first natural gas-powered rolling mill heating furnace.
