Kapp Alloy & Wire, an American, veteran-led manufacturer, was founded in 1945 by Mr. Donald Black. With over 75 years of experience, the company is dedicated to producing high-purity solder, Babbitt metals, spray wire, and fluxes. Its historical contributions include supplying solder for instrumentation aboard US Apollo missions and playing a role in microwave and telephone manufacturing in the USA during the 1960s and 70s. - Solders: A diverse range including Alumite™, KappCad™, KappTec™, KappCu™, KappZapp™ (Tin-Silver), KappAloy™ (Tin-Zinc), KappLead™ (Tin-Lead), KappAnt™ (Tin-Antimony), and SAC (Tin-Silver-Copper) formulations. These are available as wire (solid, rosin/acid core), bars, and rods, serving sectors such as electronics, automotive, plumbing, stained glass, and general fabrication. Many products are NSF compliant and lead/cadmium-free, adhering to RoHS and REACH directives.
- Babbitt Metals: DuraKapp™ Tin-based (#1, #2, #3, #4X, #11) and Lead-based (#4, #7, #8, #13, #15) Babbitt alloys are supplied in ingots, bars, and continuous spray wire. These are critical for bearings in high-speed engines, generators, compressors, rolling mills, mining, agriculture, and oil & gas equipment, valued for their anti-friction properties and load-carrying capacity.
- Spray Wire: KappAloy™ Tin-Zinc and Kapp EcoBabbitt (Tin-Zinc-Copper) spray wires are utilized for capacitor coatings, providing EMI/RFI shielding, corrosion resistance, and preventing current leakage.
- Fluxes & Compounds: The product line includes Kapp HotDam™ Damming Compound, KappaTinning™ Compound for preparing bearing shells, and various liquid and paste fluxes (Kapp Golden™, Kapp Lunar™, Kapp Comet™, Kapp CopperBond™, KappZipp™) tailored for specific metals and temperature requirements.
- Soldering Coppers: Available in 1 lb, 2 lb, and 3 lb sizes with chisel or pointed heads for structural soldering applications.
