KERSINT® and the new frontier of zirconium oxide for wire drawing

KERSINT® is the technological solution developed by PAGANONI®, a division of MARIO NAVA SPA, for anti-wear and anti-seizing applications in ferrous and non-ferrous wire drawing lines.

It is a super-sintered ceramic material based on zirconium oxide and rare minerals, designed to deliver high performance even in chemically aggressive environments.

Chemical resistance and long-term stability

The dense microstructure obtained through a high-temperature sintering process gives KERSINT® several key properties:

• high corrosion resistance in acidic environments
• extremely low wear even under demanding operating conditions
• long-term dimensional stability
• significantly reduced maintenance requirements
• fewer machine stoppages.

One of its main advantages is its ability to maintain a very low surface roughness (Ra) over time, a critical requirement in both wet and dry drawing processes, where component finish directly influences wire quality and coating uniformity.

Applications in wire drawing lines

Starting from selected and certified zirconium powders, PAGANONI® manufactures high-strength technical components including rod breakdown rings for copper and aluminum wire, as well as rings, cones, and multi-groove rollers, particularly suitable for wet drawing lines and copper plating tanks.

These applications represent some of the most effective uses of KERSINT® today, thanks to the combination of high chemical corrosion resistance and extremely low wear over time.
