Segmented drawing dies for L- and T-profiles

Segmented drawing dies for L- and T-profiles

Van Steel segmented drawing dies are designed for drawing high-precision technical profiles, ensuring geometrically defined sections and perfectly sharp edges. The design allows the tool to be fully restored by regrinding the die blocks after wear, extending the service life and reducing the costs associated with complete die replacement. This is a significant advantage for wire drawing operations focused on efficiency and production continuity.

In 1957, Albino Vanossi patented one of these segmented die designs, contributing significantly to their industrial development. Over time, this solution achieved considerable success thanks to its essential role in the drawing of L and T-shaped profiles, as well as in the production of combinations of special shapes.

Advantages and applications

Segmented drawing dies are used in cold forming processes where the following are required:

- high dimensional precision;
- sharp and well-defined edges;
- profile repeatability;
- possibility of tool reconditioning.

They represent a proven technical solution for the production of special profiles intended for highly specialized mechanical and industrial sectors.
