Federacciai expects steel production to rise

Federacciai, the Italian steel federation, expects production to rise. In 2010 steel production in Italy rose to 25.75 million tons, posting a 30% increase compared to 2009. In Italy production increased more than in other E.U. countries, where 72.9 million tons were produced last year, marking a 24.6% rise compared to the previous year. Furthermore, in the first two months of 2011, global steel production amounted to 243.5 million tons with an overall increase of 10.4%. For these two months output in Italy was a little under 4.4 million tons, also marking a positive trend (+7.4%) compared to the previous year.
