Company Overview and History
Bomco, Inc. is a long-standing manufacturer of precision formed metal components and assemblies, celebrating over 60 years of operation. Founded in 1958 as Bomco Pressed Metal and Spinning by Jim MacFeeley, the company quickly established a reputation for excellence in metal spinning. Its name, BOMCO, is derived from the initials of its early partners. Over the decades, Bomco has grown from a garage operation to a 52,000 square foot facility, employing nearly 100 professionals, and is recognized for its pursuit of manufacturing excellence in high-demand industries.
Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
Bomco's core competency lies in the precision forming of metals, utilizing a comprehensive suite of techniques including hydroforming, deep drawing, spinning (up to 120' and CNC spinning up to 62'), expanding (up to 72'), roll forming, stamping, and CNC hydraulic press operations. The company employs advanced machining capabilities such as 6-axis CO2 laser machining (with a 120x84x36 inch work envelope) for intricate trimming, 5-axis CNC high-speed small hole EDM, CNC turning, and multi-axis CNC milling up to 60 inches. Additionally, Bomco provides expert joining services, including riveting, GTAW (manual, automatic, and circumferential up to 48'), and resistance welding, alongside vacuum furnace heat treating and brazing. Engineering is supported by an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, Concurrent Product Development (CPD), and Unigraphics NX10 CAD/CAM for in-house tooling design, programming, and inspection.
Serving Critical Industries
Bomco specializes in manufacturing components for the aerospace, industrial gas turbine, and land/marine markets. For aerospace, it produces parts for jet engines and propulsion systems, including active clearance control manifolds, combustion chambers, exhaust cones, mixer nozzles, and various compressor and turbine components. In the industrial gas turbine sector, Bomco delivers complex combustion liners and inlet cones. Its expertise also extends to land and marine applications, providing precision components for power generation units and ship propulsion systems, exemplified by parts for the Aegis Class Destroyer.
Commitment to Quality and Compliance
The company maintains stringent quality standards, evidenced by its ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications. Bomco holds multiple Nadcap accreditations for critical processes, including Welding (Resistance & Fusion - AC 7110) and Non-conventional Machining (Laser Cutting - AS 7003, AC 7116). Its quality control department includes GE Qualified Inspectors (DSQR) and Pratt & Whitney (DQR) Inspectors, and utilizes Master Model-driven CMM inspection up to an 84-inch envelope, along with Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. Bomco has also secured numerous source approvals from leading industry players such as Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, Parker Aerospace Group, and Honeywell Aerospace, underscoring its reliability and adherence to demanding industry specifications.
