Company Overview
Heacock Metal & Machine Co. Inc., established in 1962, operates as a specialized manufacturer and rebuilder of various components primarily for the wire and cable industry. The company's core mission revolves around delivering quality parts that consistently meet customer requirements. This objective is supported by an integrated approach that combines materials engineering, surface engineering, and mechanical engineering expertise.
Core Capabilities
The company maintains comprehensive in-house facilities, including a thermal spray shop, a machine shop, a grinding shop, and light fabrication capabilities. Heacock Metal & Machine Co. offers precision machine work and grinding services, accommodating a range of materials such as aluminum, phenolics, stainless steel, and plastics. Both CNC (computerized numerical control) and conventional machining methods are utilized. Additionally, the company provides light fabrication services and possesses full design capabilities, leveraging the MicroStation PowerDraft™ CAD System for its engineering processes.
Specialized Surface Treatments
Heacock Metal & Machine Co. specializes in advanced surface treatments to enhance component performance. The proprietary METALEC™ (Metal Enhancement through Electrochemistry) Technology is designed to significantly reduce friction in metal-to-nonmetal applications. This low-temperature, liquid electrochemical process enhances metal surface integrity, reducing adhesion and material buildup, while also improving resistance to abrasive wear. It operates by removing nonmetallic impurities from the metal surface, affecting it to a depth of 15 mils without inducing part distortion or dimensional changes.
The company also provides comprehensive thermal spray services. This coating process applies finely divided metallic and non-metallic materials, such as ceramics and plastics, to prepared substrates. Thermal spray is employed to reclaim damaged, worn, or mis-machined surfaces and to impart desirable characteristics like wear, corrosion, or heat resistance. Heacock Metal & Machine Co. utilizes the three major categories of thermal spray processes: plasma-arc, flame, and electric-arc. A specific offering within this domain is the Ultra High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel (UHVOF) coating. UHVOF is a thermal spray technique used to improve or restore surface properties and dimensions, thereby extending equipment life through enhanced erosion and wear resistance, and superior corrosion protection. This process yields dense spray coatings from materials like metals, alloys, and ceramics, which can be ground to a high surface finish, ensuring exceptional hardness and adhesion.
