Made in Steel and Lamiera, the steel supply chain in the spotlight

In May 2025, fieramilano Rho will host two key events for the Italian metal industry: Made in Steel (May 6–8, halls 22 and 24) and Lamiera (May 6–9, halls 11, 13, and 15). Both events will provide professionals from their respective sectors with an opportunity to meet, explore technological innovations, and delve into major industry topics.

Made in Steel 2025: The Beauty of Steel

Made in Steel, the leading event for Italian steelworks, returns under the theme “The Beauty of Steel,” celebrating steel as a symbol of progress, sustainability, and innovation.

Steel and the sustainability challenge

This edition aims to highlight the unique qualities of steel, such as its durability, 100% recyclability, and versatility. The goal is to emphasize steel’s central role in the transition to a circular economy and in reducing environmental impact.

Modern steelmaking is increasingly sustainability-oriented, and Italy is at the forefront: in September 2024, Antonio Gozzi, President of Federacciai, announced that Italian steel mills had already achieved net zero CO₂ emissions for scope 1. The industry has invested 80% of its resources into decarbonization and circularity, confirming its leadership in Europe.

Lamiera 2025: the leading event for Italian sheet metal processing

Now in its 23rd edition, Lamiera is a key trade fair for machine tools dedicated to sheet metal forming and cutting. The 2025 theme, “The Bright Side of Metal Forming”, aims to draw attention to the current opportunities in the sector, particularly those linked to technological development and sustainability.

According to the official Lamiera website, “Transition 4.0 and 5.0 incentives, available throughout 2025 (with delivery by June 2026 for 4.0), represent a significant opportunity for (Italy-based) companies.” These measures, combined with growth forecasts for both domestic and international markets through 2027 (Oxford Economics), are expected to support companies exhibiting at Lamiera, especially those investing in innovation and environmental performance.

The exhibition will cover machinery, systems, and tools for processing sheet metal, tubes, profiles, and metal structures, in addition to welding technologies, surface treatments, and technical subcontracting.

A new area dedicated to Revamping & Retrofitting will host suppliers of refurbished and upgraded equipment—solutions that align with sustainability goals and circular economy models.
