Market on the rise: wire and Tube Southeast Asia set for a strong comeback
A key meeting point for wire, cable, and tube professionals in the ASEAN region
Returning to Bangkok from September 17 to 19, 2025, the 16th edition of wire Southeast Asia and the 15th edition of Tube Southeast Asia—both part of the international family by Messe Düsseldorf—continue to position themselves as what are probably the region’s foremost trade events for the wire, cable, tube, and pipe industry.
Since the 90s, wire & Tube Southeast Asia have served as a regional meeting point for international suppliers and professionals across the wire, cable, tube, spring-making, and fastener sectors. Held alongside GIFA and METEC Southeast Asia, the events return in 2025 with around 400 exhibitors from over 30 countries.
Focused on current and emerging industry needs, wire and Tube SEA offer a space to explore technological developments, machinery, and materials. They facilitate connections between manufacturers, brands, and buyers, while maintaining alignment with global trends and market dynamics.
ASEAN macroeconomic context
With nearly 700 million inhabitants, ASEAN is among the most dynamic global markets. Between 2010 and 2022, the region grew by an average of 4.4% per year. In 2024, its combined GDP reached almost US$4 trillion, ranking fifth worldwide. According to the ASEAN Strategic Plan 2026–2030, the bloc is set to become the world’s fourth-largest economy within the next decade.
Southeast Asia market overview: growth prospects and emerging opportunities
As reported on the official website, Southeast Asia continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for the metalworking industry, driven by dynamic growth across automotive, manufacturing, infrastructure, and digital sectors.
In the automotive market, ASEAN reported approximately 3.3 million vehicle sales in 2023, with Indonesia leading the region by recording over 784,000 vehicle sales between January and September 2024. The electric vehicle (EV) segment is expanding rapidly, particularly in Thailand, which is expected to exceed 100,000 units in 2025, representing a nearly 40% year-over-year (YoY) growth.
The manufacturing sector also continues to grow, with ASEAN’s value-added manufacturing output increasing by approximately 1.26% in 2023 and projected to rise by around 2.36% between 2025 and 2029. Regional trade dynamics are evolving as well, with intra-ASEAN trade making up 22.3% of total trade in 2022. This is supported by competitive labor costs and a wave of foreign direct investment encouraged by government incentives. Full economic integration across ASEAN could add between $280 billion and $625 billion annually to the region’s GDP by 2030.
Infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of national agendas. Indonesia alone has allocated a 2025 budget of approximately $230 billion, targeting major investments in the new capital city project as well as energy and transport systems. Other key ASEAN nations, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, are following similar paths, channeling funds into logistics, renewable energy, and industrial modernization.
At the same time, digital transformation is accelerating. With ASEAN’s digital economy forecasted to reach $330 billion by 2025, countries are investing heavily in 5G rollout, data center expansion, and digital platforms to support the growth of e-commerce, fintech, and artificial intelligence. This confluence of traditional infrastructure upgrades and digital innovation is creating new opportunities across the entire wire and cable value chain.
Expert-led seminars return to wire and Tube Southeast Asia 2025
